Welcome to Lammu!

Lammu is an old farm in the village of Leppälahti, on the border of Liperi and Heinävesi in Eastern Finland, only half an hour’s drive from Kolovesi National Park. With us you can rest and relax. For this purpose we offer you various accommodation options. We give advice on how to explore the nature or get to know the regional culture.

In the old horse stable you can see one of the largest N scale model railroad layouts in Finland. In the hayloft above you can explore grandma’s farm museum, where you will find historical items of the farm from past decades. Behind the old farm garden are our bee colonies, whose organic honey you can also taste and buy here.

Welcome to our farm!

Honey

Lammun Lumo is an organic beekeeping farm in Liperi in North Karelia, Finland. Our bees forage mainly on fireweed, wild raspberry and other forest and meadow flowers in our unspoilt environment. Our fireweed honey was awarded a predicate by the Finnish Beekeepers’ Association in 2011. We also offer a pollination service for organic farming in the surrounding area.

Lammun Lumo organic honey is collected from bee colonies in a clean environment. The light, creamy multi-flower honey can contain dandelion, blueberry, lingonberry, raspberry and fireweed. This honey is packed in stylish jars in packaging sizes of 50g, 125g, 250g, 400g and 500g. For the extracting season we also offer it in liquid form in the practical 350g squeeze bottle.

If you would like to learn more about our organic beekeeping and bees, we invite you to browse through these pages. Our organic and other honeys can be ordered via the webshop. If you still have questions, you can contact us by e-mail or phone!

With beekeeper’s greetings,
Your beekeeper Raija

Model railway

Info

Rolf has built an N-size miniature railway in the stable part of the old stone barn. The N-size is 1:160 scale and is smaller than the so-called “Märklin”, usually known in Finland, which is 1:78 scale. The table level on which the miniature railway is built measures 19 m2, with about 170 m of track. The rolling stock consists of about 80 locomotives and about 300 wagons. These products are from different manufacturers. The miniature railway is not a modern digital version, but due to the long collection period (about 60 years), they are controlled in the old fashioned way via a control centre with about 1,5 km of wires. The landscaping is a fantasy version, with a castle here and there from different countries, and other handicrafts using natural materials.

The name of the miniature railway PPPR comes from the fact that when the name of the property is Parrenparoni, then of course the railway is the ParrenParoni Miniature Railway.

Here it is, where Raija’s mother was born and grew up. Old items from past times are displayed in the attic of the old cowshed. Some items of our own German-Finnish family history complete the museum entirety. The museum started in August 2015.
